CIROBE (the Chicago International Remainder & Overstock Book Exposition), the world’s largest trade show exclusively devoted to the buying and selling of remainders, has announced that in 2015 its 25th annual show will take place in Festival Hall at Chicago’s famed Navy Pier, 600 East Grand Avenue.
Bradley Jonas, President of CIROBE and co-owner of Chicago’s Powell’s Bookstore, Inc., which owns and operates CIROBE, says “Festival Hall contains over 170,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit hall space, so for the first time since its initial show in 1991, CIROBE will occupy one exhibit hall. The adjoining registration area, Lakeview Terrace, has floor to ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of Chicago’s vaunted lakefront and skyline.”
Jonas added that CIROBE is working with the City of Chicago’s official marketing organization to secure room blocks at a diverse mix of nearby hotels, so for the first time CIROBE attendees will have multiple accommodation choices ranging from bargain to luxury.
Navy Pier is a 3,300-foot pier jutting out from the shoreline on Chicago’s near north side. Originally part of Daniel Burnham’s historic 1909 Plan of Chicago, over the last century it has undergone multiple transformations. In its current incarnation, it has become Chicago’s number one tourist destination. Its attractions include a variety of restaurants and shops, the Chicago Children’s Museum, the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, an IMAX theatre, the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, a 150-foot Ferris wheel with other amusement park rides, and a number of sightseeing cruises.
The Pier has ample indoor parking, is easily accessible by 5 CTA bus lines, and is within walking distance of the fashionable Streeterville, Gold Coast, and River North neighborhoods, which contain Chicago’s largest concentration of hotels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, shopping, and other attractions, including Michigan Avenue. Navy Pier is less than 2 miles from other Chicago landmarks such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Millennium Park, the North Loop Theatre District, and many other popular destinations.
CIROBE has signed a 3-year contract with Navy Pier: October 22-26, 2015; October 20-24, 2016; and October 19-23, 2017.
Jonas would also like to extend thanks and gratitude to the Chicago Hilton for being such a wonderful and gracious host for the last 23 years: “CIROBE looks forward to yet another successful, and farewell, show at the Hilton October 27-30, 2014”.
