What is a Hurt?
Publishers at CIROBE may also offer hurts or returns for sale. "Hurts" are not necessarily damaged or defective books, but refer to books returned to publishers which are not reprocessed into inventory.
Publishers establish the terms for sale of these books any way they like. They can be sold by the book, box, pallet or trailer load, or on a title-by-title basis. Prices can be set by the unit, by format (paperback/or hardcover), by the box, skid, or trailer load; or as a percentage of list price. Sometimes minimum or maximum numbers of copies per title may be specified, otherwise those numbers fall to chance.
